On the weekend of October 3–4, 2026, the Romanian Aikido Federation will host a special technical seminar in Bucharest led by Shihan Zühtü Akıllı, founder of Aikido Istanbul in 2003.
Shihan Zühtü Akıllı holds the rank of 6th Dan Aikido Aikikai, as well as the title of 3rd-level instructor and 5th Dan within the Turkish Wushu Aikido Federation. The Türkiye Wushu Kung Fu Federation oversees national instructors, the awarding of Dan ranks, and instructor certifications.
This seminar will be an extraordinary opportunity for the Aikido community to train directly under the guidance of the leader of Aikido Istanbul and to gain a deeper understanding of the techniques underlying conflict management.

Collaboration between
the Romanian Aikido Federation and Aikido Istanbul
For more than a decade and a half, this collaboration has brought together practitioners from both countries in a joint effort to promote the fundamental values of this martial art: harmony, mutual respect, and self-improvement. This martial friendship has been strengthened through major technical seminars, with delegations from both organizations regularly taking part in the national and international seminars meticulously organized by the Romanian Aikido Federation (FRA) in Romania, as well as through cultural exchanges in Istanbul. Representatives of the Romanian Aikido Federation have been honored guests at major events and seminars hosted by their partner club in Türkiye.
A central role in this partnership is played by Shihan Zühtü Akıllı, head of Aikido Istanbul. Internationally recognized for his technical excellence and teaching abilities, Zühtü Akıllı has transformed his club into a landmark institution on the global Aikido map.
In September 2025, during the international seminar in Bucharest, Maître Dan Ionescu, founder of the Romanian Aikido Federation, awarded 7th Dan to Zühtü Akıllı, president of Aikido Istanbul.
